Frequently Asked Questions
How do you measure success / ROI for content marketing?
The cool thing about content marketing is its value continues to compound over time. As long as the content is out there in the world, it should be serving you. Some key performance indicators include:
website traffic
email click-through rates
leads generated from a blogs / emails / LinkedIn posts
how easily you show up in search engines
referrals from happy clients
content engagement
All of these KPIs are very measurable. While successful brand messaging is extremely important, it can feel a bit abstract when trying to wrap your head around the value - and making the big decision to invest in it. Content marketing that shows up with consistency supports both sides of this coin. It enhances the way clients view your business and it delivers measurable results so you can actually watch your investment work for you.
How do you implement SEO into your writing? Elaborate on what you mean by “strategy”.
SEO strategy is really just understanding what your ideal clients are searching for online and naturally weaving this language into your blogs, website copy and / or LinkedIn posts. SEO efforts should exist within the front-end content and the back-end optimization of your website. I’ll map out topics that match your audience’s search intent, incorporate internal linking opportunities, and physically structure each piece for readability so Google can understand it and your audience can easily engage with it.
On the back end, I take care of the technical details that help search engines properly index and rank your site. This includes writing clear meta descriptions, optimizing page headings, adding descriptive alt text to images, and ensuring that each page is built around a primary keyword without feeling forced.
Together, this creates a full SEO strategy so your messaging and structure all work toward the same goal: helping the right people find you.
Do I need to already know a ton about my target audience / relevant keywords before working with you?
A huge part of my service is research. Doing what you do, you’ll have invaluable insights that I’ll want to incorporate into the messaging I’m crafting for your business.
But when it comes to the nitty gritty - researching keywords and target audience behavior, cross-channel messaging alignment and so on, that’s where I come in to save you the time and headache and measure the results. It’s my job to ask you thoughtful questions that get to the heart of your work and then to build that messaging in a way, and within a system, that resonates.
How often do you deliver content?
Typical engagement models include one-off services, content packages and retainers. The more consistently you show up with thoughtful insights, relationship nurturing techniques, and promotional messaging that keeps your business top of mind - the more lucrative and measurable this investment will be.
That said, every business’s marketing needs are different. After our initial conversation, I’ll provide you with a customized proposal based on where I think your marketing efforts could use the most support. I can back up every recommendation with a why, and we can proceed with as much or as little content as you see fit.
What kind of commitment is needed from me?
It’s likely that you’re not looking for another person to manage. I want this process to be as hands off for you as possible while still maintaining a level of collaboration that allows you to trust that the content I build genuinely represents your message. After we solidify the nature of the work I’ll be doing, I’ll ask for one more meeting where I’ll show up ready with questions that’ll allow me understand, how your business operates, what your clients care about, and how your voice should show up online.
From there, I’ll get to writing. I guarantee one round of revisions following a first draft, but I’m not a stickler on this. I’ll work on your content until you feel great about it. I layout this framework mainly to ensure that we’re making the most of our time in our meetings together.
Again, every need is a bit different. I aspire to give you a finished product that represents your business at its heart level so we both can’t wait to hit publish.
